Privacy policy
GeoSus is my hobby project. I am Bandwidth, and my name is Jan Ráček. I am one person and I am responsible for your data. There is no company behind it, so I am the one who holds your data and the one you write to. Contact: info@bandwidthyt.com.
I collect only what the game needs to work. I do not share your data or track you.
What the game collects
- Your player name, the one you type on the first screen. Other players in your lobby see it.
- A random ID the app creates the first time it starts. It is not linked to your phone's advertising ID or to any account.
- Your location while a game is running. The app sends position and GPS accuracy to the server about once a second while the app is open. The server needs it to place you on the map and to check who reached a task. The app does not ask for background location and sends nothing when it is closed.
- What happens in a game: roles, tasks, votes, meetings and the actions players take, with times and positions.
- Your IP address. The server and the web server in front of it see it when you connect. It is used for rate limiting and for dealing with abuse.
- Feedback, if you send it. The feedback form is optional. It stores the text you write and, only if you enter one, an email address. A technical log is attached only if you tick the box, which is off by default.
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no third-party fonts, scripts or images, and keeps no access log of visits.
What it is used for
To run the game, to fix bugs, to show the end-of-game summary, to answer feedback and to stop cheating and abuse. It is not shared and not used to build a profile of you.
Where it is stored and how long
Everything sits on a server I run myself. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap through my own server, so your position is not sent to a map provider.
- Game records (names, IDs, roles, events, positions): deleted automatically after 30 days.
- The log of refused actions, for example a task attempt with a weak GPS signal: deleted after 30 days. Positions in it are rounded to about 100 metres.
- Feedback, including the optional log and email: deleted after 30 days.
- A small statistics file keeps player names with per-player counts, and one row per finished game without names (length, number of players, winner). This stays until you ask me to delete your entry.
Asking for deletion or a copy
Write to info@bandwidthyt.com with the name you played under and roughly when. I will look it up and delete the records, or send you a copy of what I have. I do this by hand, so please give me up to 30 days. Because there are no accounts, I can only match you by name and time, so I may ask a question to make sure the records are yours. You can also complain to your national data protection authority if you are not happy with how I handled it.
Children
GeoSus is meant for people aged 16 and over. It is not directed at children. Younger players should only play together with an adult who is there.
Changes
If this policy changes, the version and date at the top change with it.
